New Jersey WIC FAQ

What if I'm slightly over the income limit?

New Jersey WIC uses 185% FPL strict — higher than SNAP. If you're over the income limit, also check Medicaid eligibility (often 200% FPL) — Medicaid recipients are auto-eligible for WIC.

Can I get formula through New Jersey WIC?

Yes. New Jersey WIC is the largest source of free baby formula in the US. Specific approved formula brands per state (mostly Similac and Enfamil). For special-needs/hypoallergenic formulas, doctor's prescription required.

How fast is the application?

New Jersey WIC typically issues benefits at the initial appointment (~1 hour). Walk away with a check or eWIC card the same day.

Are immigrants eligible?

WIC has no immigration status requirement at the federal level — your immigration status does not affect WIC eligibility. WIC is not considered a "public charge" benefit and does not affect immigration cases.
