Food Help After Stroke

~795,000 strokes annually in US (CDC). Survivors face: dysphagia (swallowing difficulty), one-sided body weakness, cooking difficulty, plus need for DASH diet to prevent second stroke. This page lists specific resources for post-stroke recovery.

IMPORTANT: If you have dysphagia (swallowing difficulty), eating wrong consistency can cause aspiration → pneumonia → death. Work with SLP (Speech-Language Pathologist) for evaluation.

~50% of stroke survivors have dysphagia initially. Under IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative), food is classified levels 0-7:
