Apply for WIC in Missouri
Missouri WIC (DHSS) administers WIC for Missouri residents. WIC provides free food vouchers, infant formula, breastfeeding support, and nutrition counseling for pregnant parents and kids under 5. Income limit 185% of federal poverty (more generous than SNAP's 130%).

- Income at or below 185% of federal poverty level
- Missouri residents (residence requirement, no citizenship requirement)
WIC is safe for ALL immigrants. Public charge rules do NOT apply to WIC. People with DACA, TPS, mixed-status families, and undocumented adults can apply for WIC for their citizen children + their own pregnancy/postpartum benefits.
What WIC provides
- Food vouchers / EBT card for milk, cereal, eggs, peanut butter, fresh fruits/vegetables, whole grains, beans, juice
- Infant formula (typically Similac or Enfamil) for non-breastfed babies
- Breastfeeding support — peer counselors, breast pumps, lactation rooms
- Nutrition counseling from registered dietitians
- Referrals to immunization, doctor visits, family services
How to apply in Missouri

- Call to schedule an appointment at the clinic (most require appointments)
- Bring documents:
- Photo ID
- Proof of Missouri residence
- Proof of household income (pay stubs, SNAP/Medicaid letter, etc.)
- The pregnant parent or child applying for benefits (in person)
- Brief health + nutrition assessment at the appointment (~30-45 min)
- Receive benefits — most Missouri WIC participants get an EBT card; some clinics still use paper vouchers
