Who qualifies
- Pregnant, postpartum, or breastfeeding parents
- Infants and children under age 5
- Income limit: 185% of federal poverty level (more generous than SNAP's 130%)
- Must live in the state where you apply (residence requirement)
Safe for all immigrants
WIC is safe for ALL immigrants. Public charge rules do NOT apply to WIC. People with DACA, TPS, mixed-status families, and undocumented adults can apply for WIC for their citizen children + their own pregnancy/postpartum benefits without immigration consequences.
What WIC provides
- Food vouchers for milk, cereal, eggs, peanut butter, fresh fruits/vegetables, whole grains, beans, juice
- Infant formula (typically Similac or Enfamil) for non-breastfed babies
- Breastfeeding support — peer counselors, breast pumps, lactation rooms
- Nutrition counseling from registered dietitians
- Referrals to immunization, doctor visits, family services
How to apply

- Call to schedule an appointment (most clinics require appointments)
- Bring photo ID, proof of income, proof of address, and the child if applying for kids
- Brief health + nutrition assessment at the appointment (~30-45 min)
- Receive your benefits via EBT card (most states) or paper vouchers
