Apply for WIC in Maine

What WIC provides

• Food vouchers / EBT card for milk, cereal, eggs, peanut butter, fresh fruits/vegetables, whole grains, beans, juice
• Infant formula (typically Similac or Enfamil) for non-breastfed babies
• Breastfeeding support — peer counselors, breast pumps, lactation rooms
• Nutrition counseling from registered dietitians
• Referrals to immunization, doctor visits, family services

How to apply in Maine

2. Call to schedule an appointment at the clinic (most require appointments)
3. Bring documents:
   • Photo ID
   • Proof of Maine residence
   • Proof of household income (pay stubs, SNAP/Medicaid letter, etc.)
   • The pregnant parent or child applying for benefits (in person)
4. Brief health + nutrition assessment at the appointment (~30-45 min)
5. Receive benefits — most Maine WIC participants get an EBT card; some clinics still use paper vouchers
