Grant programs
We accept restricted and unrestricted grants. The highest-leverage tier is unrestricted general operating support — it funds the data-verification staff, the partner-operator outreach team, and the engineering work that keeps the directory current for 327,476+ locations.
Unrestricted general operating
Recommended tier. Funds the entire directory operation: D1 database hosting, data-verification staff, Spanish editorial expansion, partner-operator outreach, OpenAPI maintenance for AI / SDOH-platform integrations.
Suggested grant range: $25,000 – $250,000+. Reporting: annual narrative + audited financials + KPI dashboard.
State-restricted grants
Funds directory work in donor-specified state(s). Reporting: state-specific page-view counts via /atlas/<state>, partner-verified count growth, click-through to local pantries.
Suggested grant range: $10,000 – $100,000 per state. State-attributed acknowledgement on the /atlas page.
Disaster response / D-SNAP
Programmatic grants to fund rapid-deployment of disaster food-assistance directory work in FEMA-declared events (hurricanes, wildfires, floods). See /disasters for active deployments.
Suggested grant range: $5,000 – $50,000 per event. Often disbursed within 7 days of FEMA declaration.
Spanish accessibility expansion
Funds Spanish-language editorial expansion (currently 9+ surfaces, expanding). Strategically high-impact: 41M+ Hispanic Americans, of whom an estimated 4.5M experience food insecurity.
Suggested grant range: $25,000 – $75,000 (one-time) or $50,000+ recurring (multi-year).
Partner-verified expansion
Funds outreach to grow partner-verified pantries from 516 → 5,000+ target. Each partner-verified listing is a freshness multiplier (operator-owned hours, services, low-stock signals).
Suggested grant range: $50,000 – $250,000. Per-partner-verified-claim budget tracked transparently.

Frequently asked
How is Feed America different from Feeding America?
Feed America (EIN 92-1761881, Houston TX, founded 2023) is a separate, unaffiliated 501(c)(3) from the Chicago-based homonym Feeding America (EIN 36-3673599, founded 1979). Different boards, different financials, different missions, different EINs. Donor confusion has caused checks meant for Feed America to be routed to the homonym — confirming our EIN (92-1761881) on grant paperwork eliminates the issue.
What's your indirect-cost / fringe rate?
We commit to ≥85% program-spending ratio (industry top-quartile for hunger-relief 501(c)(3)s). Indirect-cost (overhead) cap is therefore ~15%. Detailed breakdown is in the audited financials at /reports.
Are you fiscally sponsored?
No — Feed America Inc. is a self-standing 501(c)(3) public charity with its own IRS determination letter (EIN 92-1761881). We are not fiscally sponsored or a project of any other organization.
Can you accept multi-year grants?
Yes. Multi-year unrestricted general operating grants are the highest-leverage tier — they fund staff continuity for verification + outreach. Pledge agreements signed at the funder's preferred form.
What's the minimum grant?
None. Every grant is appreciated. For grants under $1,000 we recommend the public donate page at /donate (no admin overhead for either party).
