Memorial & tribute gifts
Make a gift to Feed America in memory of a loved one or in honor of someone special. We send a notification card to the family or honoree — without disclosing the gift amount.
How memorial gifts work
- Donate — via PayPal, check by mail, DAF grant, or any other channel
- Tell us about the dedication — either (a) in the PayPal "instructions to seller" field, OR (b) email donations@feedam.org after donating with the recipient's name + mailing address
- We mail the notification card — within 5 business days. The card states a gift was made in the person's memory; does NOT disclose the amount
- You receive a tax receipt — immediately, by email
"In lieu of flowers" donations
Suggested obituary language for families requesting memorial contributions in lieu of flowers:
"In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Feed America (feedam.org/donate, EIN 92-1761881)."
For services with a designated charity, we can provide pre-printed tribute envelopes — email donations@feedam.org.
Tribute gifts (in honor of)
Tribute gifts work the same way — birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, retirements, recoveries, "thinking of you," or any meaningful occasion. Use the same channel; specify "In honor of [Name]" rather than "In memory of."
What the family / honoree sees
A simple, tasteful card on Feed America letterhead:
"A gift has been made to Feed America in memory of [Name] by [Donor Name]. Feed America operates a free nationwide food-assistance directory at feedam.org. EIN 92-1761881."
The amount is never disclosed.
