Benefits do not expire at the end of the month. Anything you do not spend stays on the card and rolls over. It is only removed after a long stretch with no activity — typically 9 to 12 months.

If your deposit has not arrived

  1. Check the balance first. Deposits usually land overnight, so the money is often there before any notice is. How to check your West Virginia balance.
  2. Confirm your date has actually passed. Your day stays the same every month once it is assigned — if you applied recently, your first month may be partial and land off-cycle.
  3. Then call 1-866-545-6502. A missed recertification is the most common reason a deposit stops.
If you are out of food right now, do not wait for the deposit. Food pantries do not require SNAP enrollment and do not check your benefit status. Search pantries by ZIP code, or call 211 free, any hour of the day.

How much will the deposit be?

The amount is based on household size, countable income and deductions — it is not tied to your deposit date. Our SNAP eligibility calculator gives an estimate, and West Virginia inROADS (DHHR) can confirm the exact figure.
