New Jersey staggers SNAP deposits across the month rather than paying everyone on the 1st.
When New Jersey loads benefits
New Jersey staggers SNAP deposits across the month rather than paying everyone on the 1st. We have not been able to verify New Jersey’s published schedule from an official source, so rather than guess:
- Check your balance — the deposit shows up there first. How to check your New Jersey balance.
- Call 1-800-997-3333 — the automated line can tell you your date.
- Log in at New Jersey DHS and look for “benefit calendar” or “deposit schedule”.
If your deposit has not arrived
- Check the balance first. Deposits usually land overnight, so the money is often there before any notice is. How to check your New Jersey balance.
- Confirm your date has actually passed. Your day stays the same every month once it is assigned — if you applied recently, your first month may be partial and land off-cycle.
- Then call 1-800-997-3333. A missed recertification is the most common reason a deposit stops.
How much will the deposit be?
The amount is based on household size, countable income and deductions — it is not tied to your deposit date. Our SNAP eligibility calculator gives an estimate, and New Jersey DHS can confirm the exact figure.
