Wisconsin EBT balance check

Your Wisconsin QUEST Card balance, three ways — fastest first. You do not need an account or an app for the first one.

Call the number on the back of your card

The 24-hour Wisconsin QUEST Card line. It reads out your balance and your last transactions, and it is free.

Check online

See your balance, your deposit date and your transaction history, or use the official ebtEDGE app.

Open the Wisconsin portal

Look at your last receipt

Most stores that accept SNAP print your remaining balance at the bottom of the receipt. No phone or internet needed.

Lock your card between shopping trips. Freeze the card, block online use, or set allowed states in the ebtEDGE site/app Card skimming is the most common way benefits are stolen, and since December 2024 the federal government no longer replaces stolen SNAP benefits in most cases.

If benefits were stolen

Replacement covers only third-party theft (skimming, cloning, scams) occurring Oct 1 2022-Sep 30 2024 and discovered by Oct 30 2024. Benefits used before you report a lost card are not replaced.

If your card is lost, stolen or damaged

Call QUEST Card Service at 1-877-415-5164; the card is canceled and a new one mailed the next business day. A $2.70 fee may apply; one free replacement per calendar year.

Questions about your case rather than your card — applications, recertification, reporting a change — go to Wisconsin ACCESS (DHS) on 1-800-362-3002. That line keeps business hours.

When your next deposit lands

Wisconsin loads benefits on the 2nd through the 15th of each month, based on the 8th digit of your Social Security number, not the last one. A balance lower than you expected usually means your day has not come round yet. See the Wisconsin deposit schedule.

Checking your balance is always free. Any site or app charging a fee for it is not your state agency. State agencies never call or text asking for your card number or PIN — if someone does, it is a scam.
